Found this article about incorrect octane and water in your gas! From the pump!

I just happened across this article that a news station in the Dallas area ran. Give it a read, seriously.

I've known about this happening, but I didn't realize the enforcement was in place as much as the story says. I'm sure this scenario plays out the same across the entire USA. I think this should be policed a bit more, but I don't think the general public cares enough.

 

That's why I find one or two gas stations whose gas I like and trust and stick with them. I have run pretty close to dry making it to one of these stations too lol

I keep to stations with high traffic.

One other thing to be aware of, especially with motorcycles, the last person that pumped gas at whatever grade, there is 1-3 gallons still left in the line before it gets to your tank.

 

What!!!??? Is it really THAT much left in the line???

 

Good thing some places have a separate line premium

Pumps have their own regulating valves. The only gas you will get from previous person, is what's currently in the hose. Maybe a quarter of a gallon.

Your hoses must be short. The ones here are about 8' long. Add another 2-3' for Insider The pump itself.

Anyone know the ID of a fuel pump hose? Calculating at 11', the hose would need a 1.5" ID to equal 1 gallon in total.

 

I'll check the next time I fill up. 1.75 id maybe?

For cars it's not a big deal but for a motorcycle it's huge.
